Psalm 23 and How Great Thou Art

I shared a couple of years ago about the best advice I received on preparing for birth is memorizing a Psalm and a hymn. Today I simply want to share my Psalm and Hymn with you. I pray you can use them or that they may inspire you in finding the best Psalm and Hymn for you.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want
He makes me lie down in green pastures
He leads me beside quiet waters
He restores my soul
He guides me in paths of righteousness for His Name sake

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I will fear no evil for You are with me
Your rod and Your staff they comfort me
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies
You anoint my head with oil
My cup overflows

Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever

How Great Thou Art

O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made
I see the stars I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout the universe displayed

Then sings my soul my Savior God to Thee
How great Thou Art
How great Thou Art
Then sings my soul my Savior God to Thee
How great Thou Art
How great Thou Art

And When I think that God His Son not sparing
Sent Him to die I scarce can take it in
That on the cross my burden gladly bearing
He bled and died to take away my sin

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And take me home what joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow in humble adoration
And there proclaim, "My God how great Thou art"!

What is your favorite Psalm? Hymn?
