There are many in our culture who wonder this exact thing. With all of the medical advancement, isn't it best to just go with what our providers say and not ask questions? Though most providers are good and very knowledgeable, they are not you. Many are taught text book and what to do when things are not text book. If we educate ourselves on the childbirth process we can, with the help of God and our providers, seek to make the best decision for us.
At our church, one of the identities we have as believers is learners. I believe God desires for us to learn as much as we can in the things we are involved in. If you are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, then, you should educate yourself on childbirth. Know what is considered normal and what is not. Know what an epidural is and how it is done. Know why you might medically need a c-section. Know what your birthing options are. Know how to ask questions. You do not have to know everything, but I believe God is honored when we seek to know more about His design and seek to know Him better through what He has made.
